Hello guys,

So a few days ago i made a post majority of you may have seen it called web application i was challenged by a few members about the idea, so went back to the drawing board and came back, The application im going to build will be called "my tank manager"

Features:
- Email notifications on when to clean your tanks for users will multiple tanks and users with a single tank.
- Email notifications for testing on multiple tanks.
- Add notes for individual tanks, keep track of problems.
- You can add and remove multiple tanks which will have there own photo (if uploaded) as well as making the application aware of what your tank has in stock, which also includes giving each fish a description within that tank or being able to add notes about a fish, such as bullying or possible illness.
- Showoff your tanks to other members within the application such as photos or live webcam feeds.
- Theres no need for a forum as we have one here, already established.
- Tank Manager for treatments and so on.

We can also add other methods of notifications such as text messaging and instant messaging as well but we may do this a bit further down the line and as another member suggested giving newbies the ability to build there own tank online WITHOUT spending money to see which part will be compatible with such and such.

So there you have it, The tank manager it will take a while to build but again waiting for your feedback first, I've got multiple tanks with different sorts of fish although its not that hard to keep track on which to clean and feed each week an application managing it for me would be great not to mention free.

I think it's a great idea.

It would be good if you were able to download your stuff too, as a txt or doc file.

Yeah sounds like an okay idea!

I'll be happy to lend myself as a tester if you need a few in the upcoming weeks :good:

I think this is a brilliant idea especially for newbies who might find it difficult to get into a routine.

I think some kind of cycling plotter function would also be useful.

That can be made possible aswell :) If you have any more great ideas, PM me.

Yup, may take a while to build but will definatly PM you once ready.

I also thought of an idea such as a step by step process that the user can run (like a game) but as your tank progresses it will give you instructions on what to do next during the weeks of cycling.

Anybody got any suggestions for the domain name such as:

mytankmanager.com
managemytank.com.. and so on?

I think it would be useful to have a tool to be able to log information on a timeline, to start with the tank cycle and continue on with the ongoing maintenance and fish growth, etc. If you could plug in a date and time and attached current water parameters, light timing, water change information, fish size/growth, filter media changing, feeding amounts, decor changes, etc, it would be nice to use this information to build timelines and/or graphs of patterns and trends of the rise or fall of ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, disease, or whatever else is going on in your tank.

If you end up with a problem at some point you could go back to the data and run some sort of report or graph that lets you visualize the information and see, like for example, when you started feeding your fish tubifex worms your nitrates starting rising faster, or certain fish grew more or less according to diet changes. You should have the option to display other data points on this graph that let you check for other trends such as less water changes leading to illness or more water changes leading to healthier growth, etc, etc, etc.

For example, maybe at some point your water starts getting cloudy, so you go back and run a report on your data that may have effected this, such as increased light time, or a new decoration added to the tank, or feeding a new type of food.

If you even went as far as to log information for specific fish in your tank, you could go even further with analyzing your data. The more data you provide to the program, the more data points, more accuracy, and more trend comparision and cross referencing could be done.

The next step, is based on the results of your data, the program recommends possible solutions to any problem you may be having based on your individual and personal data, not just what is typical of the average aquarium keeper.

I hope you have a lot of free time!

Just an update ive just purchased the domain name: fishtankmanager.com let the game begin!

Seems like it would be kinda cool... at the mo i keep logs & such in a scrapbook... that way i feel more organised.

Yes just resorting the features list at the moment and also provided the ability to keep logs.

Seems like a great idea.

I really like the idea of a timeline.

Good luck.
