hmmmm my tank is still at 32 degress celcius but the room temp surely is lower than that as the weather broacasters are saying 28 degrees or so...

my tank hasn't cycled yet so icant change the water, what can i do to make it cooler? i have a light on so maybe that heat things up?

maybe i shud just leave the lid open as the tank seems to be a really good insulator...

your tank is in the kitchen, usually the hottest room in the house because of the stove etc.. just leave it, water temp should go down in the next few weeks when the heatwave is gone.

A large volume of water at a temperature only a few degrees off ambient will take a while to cool down. Also the lights will be adding heat to the tank. The abmient temperature inside a room (especially if it is in a kitchen where the stove, refrigerator, etc. is kicking out heat) is often higher than the external temperature.

I have a 'spare' tank sitting on the side in my flat and the thermometer on that was reading almost 30 degrees before I came to work this morning...

If you are worried leave the lights off until the temperature drops a bit more. I wouldn't leave the lid open as you will then get a lot more evaporation.

HTH, Eddie
