After recently taking out nearly all artificial plants(2 left at the back & a few hanging ones) and replacing with live java moss/fern,anubias & crypts and adding bogwood/rocks,i'm liking the look more now

Here's a short video of it so far :)

Looks brilliant! I love your Cories as well :) Your picture in the signature always makes me want loads of them :)

I have just got some porthole catfish and wish they were as active as your corys they just hide in the plants all day :/

I love my julii's, to me they always look like aquatic bumble bees, just 'bumbling' around picking up bits of uneaten food and stuff LOL :good:

Very nice! Way better than artificial plants. Do your cories seem to like them better?

looks great!

how hard is upkeep on sand? I've always admired sand bottoms, but never knew how to go about it.

Thanks :) yep the cories love the live plants, normally shuffling up and down them, probably hiding eggs while they're at it

Sand is miles easier to keep clean than gravel, when i had gravel it was amazing how much debris was deep in the gravel, took ages to clean, whereas sand,a fair bit stays on top,i just give it a stir weekly to release any air pockets etc.Once you get the knack of cleaning it its easy :good:

Unless you have a common pleco, like I do. His poo is too heavy to pick up with the gravel vac!!!

very nice setup mate. The sand is always a great choice imo. Cleaning is super easy, and all i use instead of a gravel vac is a piece of hose pipe. drains faster, has no problems picking up my Plecs Poo either. Only downside is you sometimes get the fish water in your mouth

Here's what i do, my gravel vac pipe is slightly smaller then hose pipe so i feed it into the hose pipe and then 'pump' gravel vac until it starts to suck the water, stick the end you 'joined' together into the water and then pull the gravel vac pipe out of the hose.

Depending how far and where your hose is traveling might depend if pumpin the gravel vac in water will work though, worth a try.
