My T8 Fixture Is All Broken

Hi
I have a canopy that included a 30 inch 25W T8 bulb
the bulb passed out this morning and as i was about to take it, the entire fixture fell apart. This fixture is probably over 15 years old now so no wonder. I'd like to replace the ballast as well as it is very old and i doubt it will hold on to the fixture at all.

I would like to keep the hood and simply take all the lighting stuff out and put in some new gear.

I want to keep the 30 inch bulb lentgh as it covers almost all the aquarium and spreads light equally throughout the tank. I put a 24 inch fixture i had spare for now but i would like to put the regular canopy back on.

I know i'll need a ballast but is that all? the clips broke apart when i removed the bulb. Would those come with the ballast or no?

I'm having a real hard time finding what i would need to fix this on the web.


Note that the lighting fixture is not in contact with water at all. It sits on top a clear portion of the canopy that it is screwed onto.

can anybody help me?

I'd guess you're looking for something like this? It comes with a ballast and waterproof endcaps and fits T8's and T12's. You're in Canada though so you would have to find an online store that will ship to you as I don't think Drs. Foster and Smith do. I've never been unsatisfied with a Coralife product so I doubt this would be any different.

i managed to find waterproof endcaps and bulb clips for 20$ and i can pick them up myself so that's one thing
All I need now is a ballast that i can hook everything up to. I'll take another look at everything tomorrow and maybe try out the ballast I have if it still works.

I saw the coralife kit on another website i can order from but it will come up to over 100$ to have it shipped here.
