After my first unsuccessful spawning attempt I thought id give it another try with a different female. Wisp, my opaque halfmoon.

I removed Thai from the breeding tank on Sunday 17th April after he nearly destroyed Matilda (her tail is growing back great if any of you seen the pictures in the journal section)
I set up a new tank, a little bigger than the last one and left it for a few days.

20th April - I added Thai and Wisp to the tank together, Wisp was in her bottle. Thai didn't seem that interested in her and built no nest, unlike the first time when he built one straight away.

22nd April - 2 days later and still no nest but I still released Wisp to see if that would encourage him to build. Later that afternoon when i checked on them we had a nest :D
I left them over night as there was little damage done to Wisp

23rd April - 8am I went to check on them to find them spawning :) it was amazing to watch and sat there for a good hour watching them (from a distance). Around 9:30am Thai was chasing Wisp away and being very aggressive so she was removed. Thai done a great job looking after the eggs and re built his nest half way across the tank, I couldn't get any pictures as he was aggressive towards me when I was in the room so just left him alone.

25th April - Checked on him in the morning and the nest was covered in tiny little black dots :) the eggs had hatched woo. Again he was very aggressive so I had to be careful i wasn't in the room for to long. The little fella worked so hard keeping all the fry in the nest.

26th April - Unfortunately we were off on holiday for a few days and my dad was house, cat & fish sitting so we needed to remove Thai. I don't think it was too early as most of the fry were free swimming anyway. I lowered the water level right down so it was easier for them.

3rd May - The fry are growing great :) they are getting fed 3 times a day on microworm and having daily water changes (which is so difficult as they are so nosey towards the airline) I am not syphoning the bottom yet as they are still too small.

Heres a few pictures of the spawning. Ill take some pictures of the fry tonight and get them added tomorrow :)

so happy to hear all went so well this time :good: Can't wait to see pics of the babies as they progress. Sure to be some crackers there! :D :good:

Heres a few pictures i took lastnight, sorry but there not the best :) and only show a small section of the tank.
I know the tank looks grubby but i cant syphon the bottom as the fry are too small but they are having daily water changes.
Gooey my apple snail was put in there after the pictures were taken and he has done a brilliant clean up job (apart from all his poo)

They are 9 days old.

I found 2 dead babies last night, but im not worried about this, im sure its normal.

aw they look so cute! Do you have any rough idea of how many fry you have?

I have counted well over 70 in a quick attempt but its so difficult as they are everywhere in the tank

Im keeping a note of any dead ones I see so when they are bigger and i can count them i have a rough idea of how many there was in the beginning

I have a lot of fry to get rid of. Last count was 30. My problem is how do I ? I want them to go to good homes not end up in some pathetic container that only holds a cup of water.
