Good point. I hope you have a larger tank for that fish, otherwise if it survives the marble episode, it will suffer again from being housed in such small confines. You will need at least 90 gal for that fish.

Well some good news,HE COUGHED IT UP!!!.Got home from work and there it was on the bottom of the tank.Just fed him two large minnows and he's begging for more,he's back to his normal hungry self it seems.

I agree 10 gals is a little small for him,but I've had him in there for about 4 months.He has grown some(about an inch) and they dont get much bigger than he is now.I use a biowheel filter,I vacume out a couple of gallons about once a week and the water stays sparkling clean.He seems perfectly happy.How do you figure a 90 gal for a 5 inch fish?I kept two piranhas in a 30 gal for 3 years,they grew from babies to about 5 inches each.

Wow, so happy he got it out of him. Did you jump in the tank to get the marble out of there? I am glad that things worked out for him and you, you can finally take a breath and relax. Before he decides he is going to eat something else.

Good to hear the little guy coughed it up, and is eating again. Must have been quite a painful experience for him. Hopefully others will learn from your experience and not put inappropriate items in their tanks. I know they actually sell marbles and little gem type things at the LFS, I just don't understand why.

All is well ,fish is frolicing and very happy now ,crisis over. .His mouth a little bigger than his stomach?Thanks to everybody,this is a great forum.Below is a pic of the marble the dummy swallowed,then choked up 72 hours later.Now a happy camper(2nd pic)!

Considering the bluegill part of him can reach sizes from 9" to 12" and the bass part of him can be anywhere from 16" to 25", i'd say your little fish there will grow a good 12" or more. That is the length of the tank you are keeping it in. If you don't have room or funds for a 90, get him AT THE VERY LEAST a 55.

I am glad to see he coughed it up.

I've been following this topic since it was posted - but never commented since I didn't have a darned clue what you should do! However, I am sooo relieved that he got rid of it, he's SUCH a beautiful fish, and that's such a freak accident. Now he can live happy and healthy, sheesh, how would you feel if you swallowed an orange whole!! lol, so congrats - I'm so happy for you, and for your fish.

I'm with Julie here. I've been following this but had no idea what to advise, so I didn't So glad to hear that the blighter coughed it up and that he's back to normal. Hope you don't put anything else that he can swallow in his tank.

glad to hear he's OK. you must feel very relieved. i'm with DMK on the getthim at least a 55 gallon though or else his life will be cut short by stress.

I tried to stay away from this thread after I last posted. To tell you the truth, I was afraid that he might die and I didn't even want to read about it if he did.

Today, curiosity got the better of me and I had to look.

I think you need to go out and buy that lil guy some krill for dinner. He deserves it after what he's been through!
