During this past week i've been able to tell the diference between the males and females to about 80% accuracy, i got about...3 males in total and those were from my vt spawn. ALL my crowntails (if not all, 90% of them) came out to be girls, i can tell becuase i can distinctively see their oviposters, and their fins just dotn' seem to be growing much -_-

not that i really mind :D but it's been over 2 montsh adn i still haven't had to jar anything yet (no seroius aggersssion going on), just wondering what i did that culd have caused this  the girls are incredibly cute though, but it woudl be nice to see a ct male -_-

:look:

I think Bkk mentioned that pH levels affect the male to female ratio...if i remember correctly, the higher the pH the more females.

For next time, if you want to get a better male/female ratio, make sure you combine tap water with drinking (reverse osmosis) water.

our current experiment is heavily treating the breeding tank with indian almond leaf in an effort to reduce female/male ratios. sorrell is right in thet thai breders claim that lowering ph has been said to have some effect. another thing you can do is raise the temperature in the breeding tank. there is a malaysian breder called sunnychai who markets a formula that he guarantees will reduce females in a spawn almost 95%. i've never tried it out but it's interesting...
