My Pregnant Platy

Okay! I took her out of the trap, just cause she didn't look like she was gonna have em (yet!)
but like you said, she definitely looks like she will in the next few days! ^^
I just put her in the trap when she's big like that, because I have endler fry, and I don't want to mix her fry up with the endler fry, got any suggestions? what will she be like before giving birth? other than hiding, the birthing tube, etc, I haven't had platies in a good year or two, so I forget what it's like to breed them. :p

her back end needs to drop a bit more yet, i think maybe 1 week til drop.

If you read my pinned thread (its in my signature, it tells you all about behaviour and everything else.

Kay!
I'll go ahead and read your thread right now, thank-you very much! :)
I appreciate you taking the time to look and read through my thread! Cheers! :good:

Just a quick question,.. How come Sophie (the lighter female) looks less fat now than the other female (Elise)
yet she's showing more signs of ready to give birth,... Elise is absolutely HUGE, whilst Sophie looks fat still, but not nearly as big as she did this morning. I know if you feed them they can look bigger, but this morning I hadn't fed them yet before taking the pics,.. Elise (the MM Platy) still looks huge like she did in the pics this morning, but yet Sophie looks skinnier, I know she didn't drop any fry though yet... :/

Checked on Sophie and Elise today, still pretty big, no babies yet!, which is okay, I got a bigger breeding trap (it double breeder) so I can put both of 'em in if I need to at the same time, but I highly doubt they'll be having their babies the same day,
anyways, the babies will have more room to swim around in. ^^

Sweet! PM me to let me know what's going on! I'd love to hear about her! :good:

There is no problem letting endler fry mix with other common livebearer fry except guppies. For other livebearers, you will be able to separate fry visually after the fry are a few days old. The whole idea behind breeding livebearers is that it is very easy to have the breeding be successful and it is also easy to separate the fry from each other in most cases. If livebearers caused stress in the keepers, I would focus my efforts somewhere else. I am a lazy fish keeper at heart and find that livebearers give me the best of all worlds. I can easily separate livebearer fry and many of the livebearers are quite comfortable in my tap water.

I know, but I don't want to mix up my endler fry with my platies, I'd rather have em separate, if you know what I mean, lol
it's just a pain in the butt to try and catch the fry later, (I find anyways) that's why I like them in the breeder box till their big enough,

EDIT:
it doesn't cause stress to me, I just want to make sure I can catch them, (I'm selling my endler fry and I don't want to get the fry mixed up, that's why :p)
but if it happens, I'm sure I'll be able to tell endlers from platies when they get bigger, lol

I'm thinking those gals will be dropping soon thats because of seeing the white spots. Thats what clued me into my platy getting ready to drop. I put her in the breeding net and two days later I had fry. Keep an eye on those gals!

Ok! I definitely will! Their not to big, but then again, my last fish that had fry were mollies, much bigger than platies, lol

Here's some pics I just took of the girls, I just like taking pics of my fish!

Are you turning lights out overnight with a cloth over the tank to keep it dark, they seem to prefer to start in the dark, or at least mine have x good luck, give them a good feeding, put the girl in the trap and turn out the lights etc xx
