My Pond Is In Progress! Yay

i think that something that would make your pond look ten time as nice would be getting some small 3x3" tiles to match your patio and use them to cover up the rock above the water level, other than that, nice work, now i think i'll have to make one...

cheers for that ...yes its a sore point butI've got some black paint coming this week that gives a rubbery finish appearently , it can;t look worse than the breeze block thats showing

th blacnt stuff came and although I've only done one coat its made a huge difference, the plants arebegnning to grow justr need to buy a lily

just got to finish painting the black to make sure its thick and protective and then finish the top pieces of wood for the harder to reach areas as I haven't crewed them in yet

hi
nice pond much better with the paint :good:

do you have any extra air going in there by any chance other then what is produced from the filter return?

as the plants will use up oxygen out of the water at night also in hot weather ,thundery weather oxygen levels drop

lol your patio flags are similar to the one on my koi pond only mine are a sandy colour

Hi Saph

cheers

I haven't got any extra air in there never thought I neeeded it. I'venever seen fish gasping for air so shouldn't need it hopefully

your ponds spot on think i've seen you and that pond on the pond forum

lol which one i go on a few forums

air is good in summer the heat knock the oxygen levels down thunder storms can do the same thing, air also helps with the plants at night just keep an eye out if it gets really hot this year (wishful thinking lol) you may want to ad some.

when i first added air i couldnt believe how much the fish perked up much more lively , i have never turned it off since i have air going in all year round as it helps keep the pond clean, the air helps circulate the water and cos i have the air stone on the pump the bubbles rising helps pull the waste to the pump
i do have silly amounts of air going into my koi pond it looks like a jacuzzi lol but if i want to see the fish i turn it off

agree with saph

my koi pond has about 70 liters of air per minute into the main pond

the filter also has about 70 liters of air per minute. as well as a little air pump around 40 liters per hour.

t plants could I put in my pond bearing in mind its quite deep

you could always make a step by using bricks or something similiar, then you could have shallow dwelling plants...

Just a thought :)

hi mate

I used milk crates for the job!!

fish loved them as hiding spaces but I took them out last weekend now that the plants have grown high enough

found this old thread about my pond. The fish are still doing great lost about 4 over the winter from the heron but I havent lost any through natural causes

added a couple more a few weeks back that a mate was giving away
the wood looks very tired on it now and the black paint has faded that much I forgot how nice it looked when done
