Yeah, thought so ... darn ... The tank is 36" x 12" and 18" high. He's a common plec, so expect him to get somthing between 12 and 18inchs+- he is already too big for your tank, he will need somthing in the region of a 60-80gal tank although tank dimensions are most important than gals since he is a bottom dweller, surface area/length and width of tank is most important.
Hmmm ... My nearest lfs is a branch of Maidenhead Aquatics, I've only been in there a couple of times, as it's reasonably new and I've only recently found out about it, but it seems like a pretty decent store. Maybe I'll have a chat and sound them out about it. They do have a tank with a sign saying it's for fish who are unhappy in their homes. It realy depends on the lfs, small lfs that are not a part of big chain companys are more likely to pay somthing for him or exchange him for some other fish or simply take him off your hands for free- most large chain stores though will take the fish and then flush it, although most will not accept fish at all.
Try to give your plec the home it needs if you can, even if its only a plastic tub, as he could end up in a similar tank to yours again or somthing smaller if he is sold from a lfs.
CheersHi
I found my local maidenhead v good when changing to discus they accepted a variety of fish and
gave a third of their sale value in exchange. (Cardiff)
thanks anyway.I'd love to take him. Really. But no room currently in any tank I have. Am hoping to have another biggish tank set up soon but that doesn't help you right now.
Best of luck.
Hugs,
P.
