Hi,

Just wondering if someone would be able to help me please . . . wilder? :)

My parents have goldfish and have been fine up to now. One of their fish has a lump coming out of its stomach just behind the gills, its about pea size with slight redness, no flaking or anything just a big lump.

The water perams are: 0 ammonia, 0 nitrite, 40 nitrate, 7.2 ph temp: 16oC

I know these are goldfish but i just wondered if you knew whats up with it and what it should be treated with? It doesnt look like swimbladder.

The fish is eating ok, hanging around at the top quite alot getting air, and occasionally swimming upside down and is pulling to the side with the lump.

It might be a better idea posting in the goldfish section as this is the tropical section.

Im well aware of that thanks. I rarely get a response in diseases in the goldfish section and as most of the diseases are similar then i thought somebody might be able to help and becuase i didnt think wilder was active in the goldfish forum and she seems to be an expert at fish health.

You could try contacting this guy he is fantastic with koi and goldfish if you can send him pictures he can usually tell whats wrong.

best of luck.

All you can do really is try a bacterial med.

Lumps can be tumours, bacterial, lymthocystis, parasites.
Once fish turn upside down they rarely make it.
The lump could also be pressing against the swim bladder.

No.
You really need an internal bacteria med.
Antibiotics really but there only available in the uk from a vet. Then I would only advise using antibiotics in issolation.

Has the lump just suddenly appeared.
Is the fish still going to the toilet.

fish still going to the toilet. Whats the next best thing if they cant get anti biotics?

There furanol by jbl, you can buy it online, but it will wipe the beneifical bacteria out in the filter.
So I would only use it in issolation.

i thought id post these pictures for you to see:

yes its beneath the skin? what would you recommend?

Its happening in the same place on the otherside, he is going to the toilet properly, brown poo.

Do you have an issolation tank.
If so you need to get furanol by jbl fast.

The growths could be pressing on his swim bladder, it will only get worse.
If the growths are tumours there no cure i'm afraid.
