My Paleatus

I've got a trio myself and they are cool. I'm wanting to boost the numbers of all the Cories I have but haven't decided yet. I might go with more species instead. The Schwartzi's can be fun to watch too.

I've heard you can mix the different species. I prefer the smaller ones though. My local petsmart is having a hard time getting rid of 3" emerald corys. I guess they are too large.

Is that why they get so friggin big? lol

my paleatus are maybe an 1" long right now, and my panda's are the same except a larger one who is almost full grown at 1.5"

I'm not sure if that's it or not. Some other species of true Cories do get that large.

Hi crazywolf :)

He is a very cute cory!

At one time the C. paleatus was even more easy to find and popular than the C. aeneus. It's still a great little catfish. I have 21 of them that I traded some other fish for. They are still quite young and very playful.

Yeah I would like to get some more but I'm tight on tank space right now. Once I move in July that will be a different story :D

I've seen these Cory's in Cold Water as-well.

The shop said they can tolerate as low as 10-15 Degrees Celsius

Hi psgill00 :)

Corys can tolerate a range of temperatures depending on the climate of where they originate.

Nevertheless, that's a little too cold for any cory. They would be good with goldfish though while a C. sterbai, for example, wouldn't be.

I used to keep my 8 in the tank when it was coldwater. My information is that they are fine in 15-25C/59-77F. They are the only cory that I found information saying that they are fine in these tempatures. Others were coldish but not that much.

Here's a link click me!

Hi CS :)

I'm familiar with that link, but I don't think that they could be comfortable at that temperature for their entire lives. Remember, in nature there are seasons not steady cold temperatures.

I know what you mean, maybe mine was ok because my coldwater was at 72-73F naturally and so was not that cold. Just now they are living in their upper limit at 77F and seem happy either way.
