Love the farlowellas. Not sure where to put them if I ever got them, though, as there's really no room at the inn anymore. Maybe some day!

Seriously Fish says that they do well in the same conditions as Chaestoma sp. of pleco, which I have. But it's in a tank with a couple Platydoras Armatulus, and in my experience, sensitive, nervous fish are not happy with the raphaels.

Set up a 25 gallon, can house one
Temps 75-80 depending on the exact species (they can be hard to tell apart, needing to use their scales/schutes to properly ID), can be lower for some of the rarer ones. Vitatta is most common.

Make sure its very, very mature. You need a LOT of biofilm or soft algaes to support these guys or they risk starving. They're basically a more delicate giant less active and less graceful oto lol. They need vertical stands of driftwood preferably. Adults can be hard to convert to prepared foods like wafers and veggies. Younger ones are more easily convinced, especially if tank raised.

They cannot handle major swings in chemistry either. Need good oxygen, but not necessarily lots of current.

They should not be housed with species who will out compete them for food.

They're not the most active of fish. During the day they like to pick a spot on a branch and sit perfectly still. At night they come out. And this is the better time to feed them.

I have zero space for a 25g+ tank! I'm running four tanks at the moment, and if I get a fifth, it will be an apistogramma borellii grow-out tank out of necessity. My OH hasn't acknowledged that yet, but he will if there are cute baby apistos who need a place to live.

Could they live with the Hypancistrus plecs if a space becomes available? Super chilled out tank, as the Hypans are really timid and lots of oxygenation, because they are rheophilic, Ph 6.5-ish, temp 26.5.
