I love Giraffe Catfish!! Hope you don't take offence if I say they are not exactly the prettiest fish available, but the one that got me into this hobby 18 months ago...thankfully the LFS said it was a no-no for a 90 litre tank!! One of the fish that I am still desperate to own though, when I've got a tank big enough to accommodate one...

Really like the tank Simonas, must be great fun to watch...I'm thinking come bonus time in March I might just make a new investment!

Nick

I agree with you the giraffe cat is an ugly one but it has bags of character and its those looks which make it appealing . It looks great now its confidence is up and its settled and it swims around a fair bit I watch that more than the tele sometimes

Looking good mate.
From the photo, it looks like you have a "Semi-Short" bodies Ornate!

is that a particular type? hes the same as my old one about 10-12 inch long. Lovely looking fish dont often see him though

Not fussed on the Birchir's or the Eel, but the Giraffe Cat and the Oscars are fantastic! You have some really nice fish Simon! :)

My LFS has some GC's in and i was very tempted to get one, but knew it was wrong. lol.

ha ha the GC is a keeper hes ace Im trying to find the right mix that will eventually end up in a bigger tank when I stop renting and buy a house to fit a bigger tank in

the oscars may not stay, they were given to me by a friend who had problems with them and his electric eeels, Im growing on some Geophagus Jurapi and I may transfer them and take the oscars out in the fuure. They are a nuisance at feeding time nothing else gets a look in bar those greedy beggars

I love the fire eel they are one of my favourite fish, the tyre track I got is bugging it too much so thats bein g bought by a guy in Glasgow on monday whos travelling 4 hours to get it, its a shame I dont have another tank for it because at 20 plus inches and very thinck its a beauty but I prefer the fire eel and he was there first

Could you not keep this tank for the Oscars? I would say they are 2 of the nicest O's on this forum!

And... If you ever come close to the midlands if you do decide to move them on then give me a shout. A not so LFS had a pair of Fire Eels in for £150...

it'll be in next 12 months anyway i just rented this place when i left thewife in a hurry now i want some where bigger with a back room for my tanks etc, we shall see. they are lovely fish, i just wonder how easier it would be for the eel and catfish to thrive without them in .

they are impressive fish im over due a water change as well so they will look better tomorrow when tanks clean :good:

well the oscars have gone to a new home as they eat all the food for the other fish and the endelicheri as much as I loved him has gone to my mates as the giraffe cat made his life a misery for some reason

My clown knife is now big enough to be in there and has been for two weeks, I got 2 spotted gar although I only ordered one probably becasue they are 5 inch instead o the advertised 8 inch so theyre in a grow out tank and Im now moved to a bigger house where I now have the space to upgrade the tank to something bigger to house these fellas in

Giraffe Catfish are starting to really grow on me, but I have no idea how one would behave with my riverine synos (notata; decora; brichardi; flavitaeniata) in the 5x2x2 (presuming I could "safely source" a definite smaller Giraffe species).

I couldn't help notice that the Hoplo does not seem to be in your stock list any more, thinking back to that great photo you had of one next to your Giraffe last year... Is he/she still around?

cheers

yeah they are both in there a male and female hoplo theyve gone about their business in a normal fashion

the giraffe is a cool fish Id always wanted one hes quite active as well often patrolling the tank when im sat on settee watching tele but really watching my fish :good:
