My Next Venture, 5' Tank Acquired

Eh? Did I say something wrong? Is it something rude? Sorry, for those who don't know, I am German, English is my second language so did I use some slang for erm... well you know what?

 They took it how you meant it I would think. There's lots of wood to admire on this forum. Jd's is nice though. :hey:

thanks for the interest, and yes the wood is lovely Salam (ignore those bad boys!!); now soaking in a quarter-filled tank with no leaks to show for (yet)...wondering if the cabinet will take nigh on a ton of watery stuff on top, but feel I can trust my solid Indian wood! Still, stopped on a quarter full so that I have time to take emergency action in the daylight if necessary (yes I know, wimp)...

Going unorthodox with the lighting and considering a cable kit spotlight system with G5.3 spots running over the tank...a blue LED internal strip for the evening effect as with the cemetary tank.

Also thinking of plants on top of the aquarium as well as in it to smooth out the angular edges of the glass while keeping the inside accessable of course.

Got lots of ideas, now waiting for the wallet to restock! Next buy will be the black sand...true black if I can source some, figure I will need 50-75kg

Want some cool cats in here as the latest thoughts on stock go; would love a group of butterflies on top but need to read up on them first for any water compatability issues etc...

Oh dear, the slang dictionary helped me out  Well you know what I meant ;) Well, seven years in the country and I'm still learning

So let's try again: I really love JDs MOPANI wood and I hope to find something similar this weekend when I go out to buy mine.

do look online on gumtree, ebay, aquarists classified first - you might get lucky and save loads of money!

I know where I am going, it's Wharf Aquatics. They have a fabulous selection of mopani. Don't care about price, got my nice tax return to spend. ;)

Hi Can I Ask What Best Class To Use To Make A 4Ft By 2Ft Tank.

I think there are 3 types of glass commonly available that are used in aquariums, Annealed glass, Laminated glass and Toughened glass (anyone feel free to correct me if i'm wrong). It is important that you understand the differences before you select (or more interestingly) try to cut it.

Why not just purchase one ready made? I can imagine it to be around the same cost.

Dean.
