looking forward to your comments! hope you like it

looks good. the blackwater would definately make your fishes stand out. would the background eventually be black too?

What does it look like if you take the wood that's in the middle and pile it up against the wood on the left hand side? I'm just wondering whether a larger wood pile almost reaching the surface, a bit of open water, then a smaller pile, might make for more of a feature. Just an idea to play with, it certainly does look good as it is.

thanks for the comments!

the stocking has slightly changed... my mom brought home some "pretty fish"

2 sun catfish, max size around 17-20 inches sigh.
1 angelfish, ok
1 pink tailed chalceus max size 8-9 inches (any one ever keep these before?)from what i know its a preditory tetra
3 red eyed tertas, need to get more, but probably going to be eaten by the sun cats

I haven't kept the pink tailed chalceus before, but my boyfriend has in the past and this is what I know of them: They are very predatory species that inhabit the upper portion of the aquarium. They are very skittish and grow fairly large (as you know). They generally like to be in groups (5-6) and if there are only a few, then there will be fighting.

I would recommend upgrading your tank if you want to keep this beautiful species and allow yours to have a group. :)

PS: When they settle in, their colors are GORGEOUS!

We got a group of 5 kept in a 90 gallon at work...

I wouldn't recommend these guys in a tank that size!

I would personally re-home the fish. I would also tell your Mom the you are sorry, but the fish have to go. Tell her next time both of you can go and pick good fish that will stay decent size for that aquarium!
