I thought it looked like a Amphilophus citrinellus too but wasn't going to say anything over such a beautiful fish.

If you're looking for info on a Midas cichlid, that's a Amphilophus citrinellus.

Yea that would be fine. Just keep an eye out. I'm sure this isn't the problem but are your water params great? Do you notice him doing the rubbing less after a wc?

His water parameters are all at zero, the tanks only been running for 4 or 5 days so I haven't done a water change yet ,but I've noticed he rubs (maybe rub isn't the right word) it's almost like he "feels" his way along the back of the glass with his mouth

yea, I was just saying that the it looks midas to me.

I am terrible with pics tho. I can never tell hardly any fish by pics. I mainly have to see them in person and see them move or profiles.

I hope you don't take offense at all. My last Midas was a cross and I loved him but he was killed by my flowerhorn. He looked just like yours but was orange. Yours is very pretty and your lucky to have him.

In all honesty I wouldn't care or worry about it. He's a beautiful fish no matter what and a scientific name won't change how great a fish is.

Here's a pic of a Midas. They DO have bigger lips than what this one shows. Not sure why this pic doesn't show the lippage.

WOW Wuv he is looking cool..... you, smb, amd CM just keep giving me all of these great ideas for fish.... the only problem is that my room that I am going to eventually turn into my fishroom/study is only 10 feet wide.

well I do have a sweet offer on a 180 so that I can get one of my dream fish, and I am seriously saving every penny that I can take advantage of this deal, but as we all know that there are still 3 other walls that need tanks as well
