My New Tank (so Far)

This is my 29 gallon Show tank. (as in, tall) its currently home to 5 platies and a killie fish. it has finished its cycle and the fish in it are going to be relocated. Im looking for a fish that looks great in schools
im definitly going to get a black background
and im not sure if i want that val in the back like that, any ideas?





ANY comments apprieciated. critisize it all you want. ive never done a show aqaurium, so i need lots of suggestions...

Looks great, and should look even better with a black background. The driftwood looks a bit.. wobbly though.

Well I think you're off to a great start. I like the natural elements in the tank. Try positioning some more drift wood and/or large rocks at the base of the "tree" to give it some visual stability. I like the vallis, maybe add 3 more? Odd number arrangements seem to look best and the least contrived. Look forward to seeing your tank evolve.

i have another question, when that drift wood fills out with the fern do you tihknk its gonna look weird like a tree? it kind of reminds me of a money tree already, but if it fills the entire thing out, i would love it.

and more and more i dont like how the vals are. its not aesthetically pleasing to my eye. i need to figure out some other arrangement of the vals. i'll try filling out the back and see. any other suggestions of what i could do?

She means thre more clumps.... ans yeah some nice striated smooth rock would look great. Look at Takashi Amano's waterscapes for inspiration.

another thing i dont like about the vals, they lean in and keep touching the ferns. IRRITATING. well not really, but it makes it look messy.

ok, i trimmed the vals lower and now they arent as annoying as before, i also added 3 melon swords at the base of the tree, which gives it the illusion of stability, (though while doing it i also tipped the wood over once, or twice.. ) i also raised the filter intake higher up, and put the elodea on that side to cover up the filter. black background coming tomorrow maybe.
i'll post pictures laterz.
