I got one of these! It's an L200. Sold to me as a 'phantom plec'. *hides sheepishly* I paid £69.59 :X for him... did I get ripped off? Planet catfish says it's a Lemon spotted Green Pleco.

He's lovely... a very very very lovely fish and he is in perfect health, about 7-8" long and I've already seen him feeding and I've only had him this afternoon.

I have no money now and aren't allowed to go into a fish shop for the rest of the month unless I run out of food or need to buy meds or something. If my family/friends notice him, I paid £20 ;)

This is the most I've ever spent on a fish...     :X

but I love him to bits...

Well I really hate to say this, but unless it's an amazing specimen, you've probably been ripped off  I have a 3" an paid about £25 a year ago and just saw a 4" one here in SW London on the weekend for £40.....
On the up side - they are really gorgeous fish, so hope he/she settles well and enjoys it's new home !

They are nice fish, I have a 3 inch L128, which is the same but without the high fin. I only paid £30 though and that was at an expensive shop.

They are indeed gorgeous plecos! But I too have to say you've been ripped off. Or well, depending on the size. If its a fully grown specimn, it would be a bit more expensive ... but even then you payed over the top.

Here in Holland I can get the L200 (about 7/8 cm in length) for around 25 euros (about 20 pounds)

L200s are very nice, one of my favourite species of plec!

I got a new L128 today! Its a 5.5" gorgeous specimin that i got for £40 (after 33.3% discount). I used to have a small one which i bought at just over 1" for £45, but unfortunatly it died of whitespot...damn clown loaches.

Anyway, my new one is gorgeous! The L128 is the same species as the L200, but is found further north on the same river as the L200s, hence the colour variance.

Here is a picture of my old one, this was the best picture i was able to get of this shy little fish at the time...

I will post some pics of my new new guy over the next couple of days.

I think from what I've been reading, mine is a full grown specimen.
I'm hoping bunjoweb's plecs were the right price and everyone elses 'cheap' ones were just flukes... -_- if there's one thing I've learnt from this, it's research the price of the fish you're buying as well as the actual fish. I'm far too impulsive and get swept up by pretty fish in fish shops... I don't regret buying him though, he's lovely. He's not as shy as my gold panaque plec (my other L number), he's claimed a large bit of bogwood as his own and he's been coming out from under it loads (and I've got a lot of bogwood) going everywhere in the tank, including sitting right at the front so I can look at him and admire... then he returns to under the bogwood... he's getting along fine with my two 1 and a half inch bristlenoses too. Although I'm not sure he's actually noticed them...

What a pretty plec! yay! :fun:

We paid £35 for our L200 lemon spotted green at a little over an inch and a half.
As Bunjiweb said, the L200 and the L128 Blue Phantom are colour variants of the same species.
The L200 is sometimes called the Green Phantom.

Beautiful fish.

Sir... I saw your pic of the plecs in the photo section of the forum (very nice pic btw beautiful plecs) and my L200 is about twice the size or yours, do you still think I got ripped off?
