My New Plec?

Unless you mean something else and that they are very hard to look after

Some are more difficult then others, the one you have is easy.

Feed it wafers and also fresh vegetables, Courgette (Zuchini if you are a septic) is a big hit usually

Ah thanks. Does the veg have to be boiled? I gave the guppies a boiled sprout leaf on christmas day and they went crazy over it
I am on pets at home website and they have lots of different things.
Pleco wafers
Plec pellets
Algae wafers
Catfish pellets

Are they all the same? I will get some tomorrow :good:

So you're saying that a 6" bn is fine in a tank that is under 2ft? I have had a 6" bn before, she was also very chunky.

Still too big imo. :look:

Too small a tank will lead to it being more than likely stunted.

Pitbulls would still be a better option.

Minnnt I have never seen any of them at pets at home-i'm going tomorrow to see if I can get the hikari sinking wafers. I will have a look around at what the have in their tanks. They usually have them all mixed so I might not have noticed.

Read what I posted.

It is just about big enough for what I think it will reach in a fair amount of time, ime domestic ancistrus don't 'easily reach' 6 inches.

It is not ideal but it is a completely different proposition to the usual common or gibby we see in here.

Pitbulls would undoubtedly be a better option, agreed, but the OP is hardly dealing with a monster fish at this stage, look at the size of it.

As always, all of my posts are based on my experience only.

FWIW a friend had a pair that churned out fry about every 3 weeks in a 2 foot breeder and looking at the dimensions of the OP's new tank it was smaller in volume than the one that is due to arrive soon. He was a much more experienced aquarist than I.

I've got an albino bristlenose,he's about the size of yours, and is very slow growing,so don't panic.

Anyway, the way you're going,by the time he gets big, you'll have an 8 foot tank that takes up an entire room....

Thanks for the replies. I'm sorry I didn't mean to start a debate I was just sold him and told he will stay small.
I hope my new tank is here soon but at the same time it's very daunting having to move all the plants I have and then stressing the fish out too.
I am pleased to say-pets at home had no pitbull plecs BUT they are ordering one in for me :D If I need to rehome my little plec then when the time comes which is hopefully a long time away then I will rehome him.
Ian-now that's just silly I mean I only bought bogwood today and a bigger tank as I love those tiny little chilli rasboras and those tiny little ember tetras they are so small! I'm hoping to have 3 or 4 in my new tank once it's up and running :p
Yes. I admit it. I'm obsessed.

Mike, i did read what you wrote... and what i wrote still stands.

You haven't caused a debate really... I'm just offering my advice. You can do what you want for me.

I wouldn't feel comfortable knowing that i have a potential 6" fish in a tank less than 2ft... Just my preferance.

I have kept them in a much smaller tank, but i had a bigger one to move them back to once they had served their purpose.

:dunno:

As with everything to do with fishkeeping, tis an art not a science.

I guess all we can do is offer our opinions and let the OP decide, no offence intended.

Thankyou for all the replies. I will rehome him if he turns out huge :(
