hopefully not long now?!

Beautiful Platies, you will probably get an interesting range of fry there. Good choice to have her in another small tank, I bred platies once (not meaning to - new to the hobby back then) but I had to have her in a small add-on tank. I can tell you that that was a mistake, she displayed very aggressive behaviour and kept knocking the tank off - which happened during birth. Luckily, I still had about 6 fry left. I'll be intruiged to see how your fry turn out! I had a female similar to yours, just with spots on the blue part. Male was a orange platy - I turned out having a orange fry with black spots! Be sure to keep us all posted after the birth with a fry journal - I think that plenty of users would love to share the experience.

I just bought platys yesterday.  I already had a single MickeyMouse (long story) and got 4 red wags and 3 blues.  I think one is already pregnant.  BUT the tank has a lot of tankmates.   I'm sure a few will survive in the staurogyne repens or the java moss. I love platys!!

Those look beautiful! If you are new to this some times you can't tell the squaring off. I know that it took me having five fish give berth before I noticed the squaring off. You can also look for these signs I put them in order from best to worst. 1 The Squaring off is the hardest for me to see but some times you can tell,2 notice that the black spot looks kinda reddish ( this only happened with my guppies I don't know about platys because I have not breed them), and last she might go crazy and start swimming fast for some time then stop and do this over and over ( only one of my fish have done this but I hear it's a good way to tell) hope I helped. oh and if you see any of these signs turn off the light so she can be calm:)

What beautiful fish I hope the babys make it sorry I can't give any help I'm kinda new here best of luck:)

We have fry!!! just turned the light on and noticed one, then another and another....! she still looks large though so she may have more to come, I'll leave her with them tonight and see how she is tomorrow, they have plenty of hiding places and they appear to be very quick at getting away from her already so hopefully they will be ok, they have just had a nice dinner of microworm
