My New Oscars

Have a minimum of 75G for the 2. A 4 ft is way too small.

uhh... you do realize a standard 75gallon tank is 4ft long right?

actually a 5ft is 75g, a 4ft is 55g.

Mystix doesnt kno what hes on about neway. he jus posts what he thinks sounds relevant so i wouldnt worry too much.

neway...

nice oscars and glad to here your looking at a bigger tank. your fish will love ya for it.

The foot/tank must be a UK thing, in the US a 4 foot tank could be anything from a 33 to a 170. Gallons at least, tank measurements are best. Check out the variety of sizes around here, some are common, some are not so common; http://glasscages.com/?sAction=ViewCat&lCatID=2

well here in the UK most 4ft'ers are about the 55g mark.

48x18x16 or something like that.

dont see many 4x2x2 etc. think there normally custom orders or atleast round here they are.

jus had a look at the link u posted too. some pretty random tank shapes on there.

Here's the All-Glass chart, these are the more common sizes; http://www.all-glass.com/services/index.html

Still, you are going anywhere from a 33 to a 120. It would be great if you had a link to the more common UK sizes, a "foot chart" for lack of a better term. CFC gave me some info on the UK sizes long ago, it got lost with the last hard drive reformat.

thanks sam :good:

glad to hear your getting a bigger tank :good: , i to have a a small 5inch albino oscar in a 39gallon, but will hopefully be upgrading to a 75 pretty soon :shifty:

btw i have a 4ft tank and its only 39gallons

They are lovely big oscars, congrats! :good:

They are really nice.

I've got two oscars trying to find a home for one in a 55g. They are still small but are growing really fast. I am looking for a 75+ to put him in. I want some different fish for the 55. I had read that they grow fast but nver thought that they would double in size this fast. And they love their food.

if a standard two foot tank is 29gallons then a standard three foot must be around 43.5 gallons so a standard 4 foot must be around 58 gallons. give or take a few would probably get it to 55 gallons some way so yea, a standard four footer would be 55 gallons.

you do have a pair of lovely oscars :good: never really fancied oscars but these changed my opinion on them. thanks :fun:
your pleco looks nice too. how big is he. i'll admit, when i first saw that picture, my eyes were drawn to it rather than the oscars :look:

hes about 7 inches, a common plec.im gettin rid of him soon though as i think hes gonna outgrow the tank
id like to get a smaller one for the bottom

If u ask me (which no one did) a standard tank has never been mentioned and shouldnt really be assumed. I have two 4ft tanks, a 90gal and a 38 gal. The 38 is the one I see most but doesnt make it standard.

Very nice fish btw glad you are catering for them with a 6footer.
