heya guys,

I joined a few hours ago ^^ and thought id post my tank. Been up and running for a month now.

-ORCA MT-50
-80L (approx. 20gallons)
-UGF
-inbuilt filter not used (didnt find it efficient enough, ill use it if i go marine)
-2 Tetras
-1 Flying fox

well, im 17, and i really have a great interest in fish! ive done everything slowly, and carefully, even though 1 tetra of the 3 dissapeared completely :/

I just done a water change, so please excuse clarity of water!

very nice aquascaping but if you only have two neons your going to want some mor so you have at least 6 as there shoaling fish

very smart, I do agree with the earlier comment though your tank would look fantastic with about 5 or so more neons in there

heya!

those replies were quick

well, i originally had 5 tetras, 1 completely dissapeared, and the other 2 sadly passed away, but the place where i brought them said they will give me 3 as a sorry, as they said it was a mistake on their half :p

and as for the other filter, i cant say i hated or loved it, my dad who used to keep fish for 4 years said it just seemed more natural. But hey, if i want to use that filter then i will change ofc ;)

thanks for replies!

I also plan to buy 3 baby clown loaches, and a top middle swimmer, so i might go for a Siamese Fighting fish. ;)

Thanks!

Bagu

clown loaches will outgrow that tank so that isnt a good idea, and a betta would have its fins pecked by the tetras

and the plants far right is not aquatic

hey!

really!? The place where i brought the plants said they all go well in the aquarium, and they were all kept in tanks ;(

Do you have and ideas on a really stunning fish then to replace the Siamese Fighting Fish?

I really wanted clown loaches =( i wanted to get them tiny, let them grow to a nice size =/

ooo god

that plant is dracea, put it in a pot with soil and watch it grow!

you could add a gourami instead of a betta

and khuli loaches instead of clowns

heya!

okay, well, i reduced the power on the UGF power head, and enabled the other filter in the back compartment, i have it hitting the wall closest to it to reduce its power.

The tetra's and Flying fox are loving it B-)

IF i want to reduce its output by a bit, how could i go about doing that, because there does look to be a load of current ;D!

please don't tell me to cancel either, i just want to keep my options open ;)

ALSO, a query, my flying fox barely eats algae, i see him occasionaly go for a nibble, then go lay down somewhere x) gotta tell you, he is great at hide and seek :p

i dont want to buy a plec... nooooo way, i want a super little algae eater.

Thanks

Bagu

edit: i would move the water heater to the back, but the flying fox loves the white stuff that grows on the suckers that it uses to stick to the back panel!

the best algae eaters for small tanks are:

bn plecos
clown plecos
bulldog plecos
ottos

whoa!

thanks for quick reply, you're a saviour! :good:

Ill google them and see what they look like, size etc

only thing that puts me off plecs, is their size, and apparently they always seem to have faeces coming out of them lol

your tank is fantastic for a beginner! the only problem with the aquascape is that the plant in the back right hand corner isn't aquatic. its already been said, i know. plant it in soil and with the right lighting condiditons, they are pretty nice plants :good:

i'll repeat this... do NOT buy clown loaches for that tank lol, they will out grow it VERY quickly.

also, about the plecos, not all grow large. those that truckasaurus stated stay small. however, only 1 out of those are effective algae eaters...and this is only while its a young fish.
  • ● buying a clown pleco means you have a beautiful fish but you will hardly see a reduction in algae...at all!
    ● a bulldog pleco is pretty much the same, but less good looking lol
    ● ottos aren't very effective algae eaters but they are lovely looking but pretty fussy to water stats.

however, bristlenose plecos are VERY effective algae eaters. i bought 2 babies when i had a major algae problem and literally over night all the algae was gone. i highly reccomend this fish :good:

anyway, good luck with the future plans,

pink.
