Wow, nice pics. How long do you think his fins are? I don't know what i'm talking about but a fish like that for 18 pounds :S ...What a bargain

Lovely my favrouite fish :good: Did well to get it that cheap i think my local shop sells them at about £55

First picture is excellent :hyper:

thanks for all the replies. well at first i rang them up and they said they were 25 pound. so i thought ye quite cheep so i will go and get one from there. i went up and they were priced up at only £18. i couldnt believe my eyes. i was happy that they were only 25 pound but to get an extra 7 quid knocked off was great. i have just bought 3 baby plattys and put them into a 38 litter tank i had set up about a week and a half ago and i have just fed one to him and he loved it. cant wait untill he gets bigger.
more pics to come.
IF ANYONE HAS ANY PICS OF THEIR LIONFISH OR SCORPION FISH OR EVEN THEIR FROG FISH PLEASE POST THEM TO UP THE GAME.
thanks once again

how do they sting you? Do they have tiny little stingers all over them so if they brush against you you are stung? Or is it when there spines stab you?

The venom glands are in the base of the dorsal spines, so it is if they get you with the dorsal fin. Some volitans have been known to dip their heads and "charge" the aquarist's hand, so you have to be wary with them in a tank.

Just out of curiosity, what is the minimum tank size required for a Volitan Lionfish?

i wanna set up a 75 gallon dwarf lion tank.... but i need a job first.....

Even though some may only require a 20 gallon or 30 gallon, I would be tempted to get a larger tank so that water parameters could be kept constant. It would be a shame to lose such a fantastic fish because of the un-stability of the water.

The Lionfish looks ace, black molly :)
