Just thought I'd share my new Melanotaenia herbertaxelrodi with you all. In the UK it is very hard to find any Rainbows that aren't farm bred and therefore of dubious ancestry which is a real shame. These are farm bred and have only been in my tank for the afternoon so their colour will improve as they settle and mature.

They're not the best photos I'm afraid and for those who don't know they are the larger fish with the dark stripe down the middle

Nice looking fish! How many Tereras have you got in there?

I've got 6 in there, I planned 2 males and 4 females but I don't know yet whether some of the 'females' are juvenile males (I have a feeling that at least 1 is as it is starting to show colour in it's fins) but so long as the other 3 are female I should be ok!

They are stunning rainbowfish, never seem them before. I'm guessing they weren't cheap

Well, they weren't the most expensive bows there but they were £7.50 each, 3 for £21.00. The Lake Kutubu and Western bows were £9.50 each! They are slow growers though an live for quite a long time. I'm thinking of breeding them too so I'm sure I'll get value for money!!
