I am buying a new juwel rio 125 tank but don't want to buy the cabinet because I have a solid wooden cupboard to put it on. Has anyone else done this as I'm a bit concerned about the weight distribution.

Why don't you test your cabinet first, by sitting on it with 2 or 3 adults. If it withstands that, I wouldn't worry. Check also the joints, and make sure there is nothing like a 'hanging' top, which means that the top should be attached to part of the frame, connected to the feet.

I am also using non-aquarium cabinets, and always make sure to put some styrofoam slab underneath to make up for any irregularities which could cause high water pressure at determined points, and as such leaks.

Thanks, we'll all sit on it today and see if it survives :good:
