Fishaholic
Well, the other week I was at the lfs a new one in town i don't go to that often due to overpriced issues there lol. But was looking for a peice of drift wood at a good deal in town but wantd a really big one to cover most of my tank but that would house alot of bog wood plants for growth etc. (Like I said over priced the peace of drift wood cost me almost 100 bucks) But thinking now it was well worth it (It was actually bigger than my tank and i needed to do some minor trim work to get it in easy. Decided to do a redo cause of some agression going on with red tail in the tank he keeps it up and he is gone! (Know anyone that wants a 10" and toonie fatness red tail) plus wanted to get into more different style plants
Little History
Started into planted tanks when I was 20 years old and living on my own and had a huge 60 tall when i was a kid and housed all kinds of different fish as well as breeding some of them. Learned alot the hard way and learned to take advice and do lots of research and sometimes not take advice not everything is what it seems. My first planted tank lasted 5 years and had alot of fast growing plants I used a soil based substrate with clay granuals and peatmoss mix, and normal stones for gravel. Housed 1 red tail shark 2 plecos one albino, shrimp and angles my breeding pair. Housed them like this for 5 years till i moved and got a bigger tank for them, not only that but when i had a snail outbreak it destroyed my tank and almost all of my plants my swords where left and that was about it, lost my melon plant and all my banana plants as well as my tiger lotus with the nut sac on the bottom. Angles came more near the end of the 5 years and upgraded only cause they where outgrowing there tank. Oh and my famous koleloach love that thing. The tank was heavily planted supplimented with doses of florish products patassium, iron, carbonate, KH, and a few others for plants can't remember them all sorry. I baught the bigger tank and decided i would just plant what was left and let them go if they grew then they grew I didn't really get serious with it as the entire snail thing did more than piss me off!
But now I am currently 27 still don't like to listen to what people say and have 2 daughters who are grinding at my feet everyday cause they have gotten older now and really want to help daddy make the tank come back to life again so now I guess i put my stoberness away join the forum get caught up show my tank and stats and see what becomes of it. Really I only do this as a hobby now because of my daughters if it wasn't for them and this site I probably wouln't even bother with it. Not only that but back when my daughter was 3 years old walking and talking we use to breed bettas together and sell them to the store for fun and man a daughter that is now 6 knows alot about it. Currently helping me out with my breeding tank she just might get spoiled and get a group of gourmis and a nice fish tank in her room if she gets lucky but she has to be good. She loves the vegatation just like I do something our entire family keeps an interest in. The wife is more into the technical stuff then I am hehe! So with this redo its patients and see what happens, notice a few snails in the tank must have caught a hitch hiker hmmm.
