Very Nice & not a bad price

If you have clowns you may find they will host in this Coral

Thanks Chac!! Im super pleased with it!! :D LOL

And yes i do have a pair of perc clowns - I've got my fingers crossed they do decide to host in it!! They have been over to it but its a little soon yet but i dont have any other fishes who will be after it so im hoping they will!!

If they are from the wild they def probs will in the end but u might have so much luck if they are tank bread as they wont know wot to do.
i have a clarkii and after about month it finally decided to host in my large leather probs was the coral hated they attention and closed up for 2 weeks but now they live happy :D

Nice coral though i want one now!

Cool thats great news N1Z as my clowns are WILD caught!! Woohoo so even more chance they will host in this baby!! Yeh its a lovely coral really nice to look at. I have a toadstool coral at the other side of my tank and they show no interest in that but hopefully this finger coral will take their fancy!!

Yeh its a nice coral you should get one!! Can go pretty big I've read, but can be 'prunned' if needed, listed as a great beginner coral and hardy! what more could ya want!!

Hey Guys!

My finger coral aint looking so good now :/ its much smaller now and it has a sort of film/skin hanging from it sort of like its sheddin its skin?!? :/

Is this right do you guys know if they do that??

Sometimes leathers shed a layer of skin when placed in new environments, and sometimes a shedding event is a sign that they're near death. Unfortunately its tough to tell the difference between the two. As long as chemistry and lighting are suitable its probably just a shedding event. Proper chemistry includes:

Temp 75-83
pH 7.9-8.4
sg 1.024-1.026
ammonia/nitrite 0
Phosphate <0.25ppm
nitrate </= 40ppm
calc 390-450ppm
alk 9-12 dKH

Leathers are very hardy so if some chemistry point is in fact off its probably WAY off. As long as you have suitable marine lighting on there its probably enough too. Pretty much the only things you can do for it is make sure its requirements rae met and wait. -_-

I read in "Practical Fishkeeping" magazine that leathers can be confusing when they shed, which is generally once every few days. It also reccommends a simple test; bring the coral to the surface and smell it. If it smells like fresh seafood, it's fine; however if it smells horrible, it's dead.

Wow I didnt relise they could do this so often! as we have only had it less than a week this could just be its first shed since we got it. Great tip I'll do the sniff test and fingers crossed it doesnt smell bad!

Yer i found that out lol, i smelt my pulsing xenia and it stunk plus it didnt like come out for ages to in the bin he went :( but im glad cos seeing my corals grow under t-5s make it look like a good thing i dont have that coral any more lol. But i wouldt worry softies are great part from their bland colours they can be fine in anything. atm ive got huge nitrates which is a pain in the butt to get rid of atm but they are fully out all the time still!

well i did the smell test :) and results are fine doesnt have an 'off' smell at all. It has now finished shedding so hoping it will start to open up again now!! Fingers crossed ill update you on progess and hopefully be able to post another good pic soon! thanks
