Oh, DUH. Heh heh Sorry.

I got these two because of a topic that was opened up by Bettabelieveit. It was posted that there was a store that was moving, and there were some bettas there (2 of which are my boys) that were sort of left behind and neglected. They said it appeared as if they were kinda hoping they'd die and not have to deal w/them. THEN I found out they were less than 2 hours from me. I wanted to take a drive over there and ask the store in person why these fish were left this way, BUT... I posted and said I would take 2 if they (Bettabelieveit and Saucy from this forum) wanted to go pick up however many they had left and we would work out the details on how I'd get them later. So they did. :)

And it turns out they had a party to come to in town that day anyway, so they came to town on Saturday - I met them for the exchange and now I have 2 new little homies for Jack's old tank.

AND I was able to dump off.. UUHHHH... I mean donate some of my old arches, gravel, etc. on them - stuff that was piling up at my house. :p

All in all it worked out fab for everyone.

The brown spot is it a rusty colour, and is he flicking and rubbing.
No flicking, no rubbing - he kinda seems like he's a little clamped up - but I don't know if that's cuz he's really not used to his new place, AND there is suddenly a huge ferocious scarey fish living RIGHT NEXT DOOR to him or what.

His left gill sticks out a little bit and he seems like he's breathing just a little bit heavier than he should be. I thought I'd give him a day to settle down and then figure out if he needs meds or not. I'm going to try the colloidal on them (it's in there now) for the fins cuz they really need it.

You can kinda see in the 2 pics above the brownish stuff on his head.
It is more rustish colored.

:p Hey, you can "dump" stuff my way anytime!!. Hunter loves the little cave you sent me, and the filter is now going strong in my 20 gal and helping out the UGF filter tremendously.

He was a heavy breather when I had him too, but he seemed to settle down after a while, he's slow to adjust it seems, and this is the biggest change of his little fish life yet! :)

Yeah, that and he's probably like, WHOA pH difference! And with him being sick and all, I wouldn't worry too much. He did breathe really hard when we had him, too. Hang in there!

Yeah - I was really afraid of the ph swing so I acclimated them really slowly. Like 5 hours in the cup.

He's a BIG scaredy cat. So is my other ct - I wonder if that's just a trait of them, or if I just have two weenies.

There was an ant that had wandered over to the tank - and crawled across the front. MM was trying desperately to eat it thru the tank. BB took one look at it and hid behind the plant. :p

 what a weenie! I think that's just his personality, I have mostly CT's and they're for the most part, not weenies, altho a lot of the CT's I get from fishy biz. are weenie fish. most likely how they're raised etc..

I thinking he has a parasite with the gills and heavy breathing and velvet can show itself in rust colours, maybe add some salt for now, good luck with the new fish, there so cute.

Yeah, as luck would have it, my little Daisy gets to go back into the big tank today so the hospital tank will be freed up.

He might be going in there so he doesn't pass it over to MM.
Hmm...
another new home for him - I wonder how much he will hate that.

This is pretty sweet. I was looking at old photos of my fish (yeah, I do that at work - lol) and I was stunned when I realized just how much Jasper and Mermaid Man look alike....

They're probably cousins.
:p

You should set them near each other! It would make quite the display.

I have two that look almost entirely identical (I can barely even tell them apart), and I kept them in a divided tank with each other for quite a while. It was lovely.

Well, it turns out that Barnacle Boy has some sort of gill infection AND velvet.

And Mermaid Man has ick. He's got a nice little coating of it this morning.

Everyone's quarantined and getting treatment.
These poor guys.
UUGH!

Sorry to hear they both have problems, but can't say I'm really surprised since they weren't being taken care of by the LFS. At least they came to the one lady that has experience with every betta illness known to man (or fish) I know you will have them back in "fin" shape in no time. :D

These poor guys. They had quite a journey getting to me. But they did get to have a couple of sleepovers with Bettabelieveit and Saucy!

The worst part of the whole thing is they were in together for a while, so I'm sure they shared what they have. Thank goodness that what they have is treated with the same meds, so it should cover both. Their heaters will have to go in tonight again, too.

Aaaah, the joys.
