Morning!

I got my first fish yesterday, 3 cory metae and 3 botia striata.

I think the botia have been eating my snails :D There wasn't a single snail on the glass this morning. Are they really that efficient?

I have some pics here:

The botia are so hard to catch cos they are just swimming all over the place! They are great fun to watch.

I'm glad you're enjoying your botia, houndour! I've not kept Striata before, but loaches are great fish.

Some loach species are incredible snail exterminators (including Striata). If you had a lot of snails, they probably didn't wipe them out overnight, but they will within a few days. If you didn't have very many, yeah, they'll make short work of them.

i have millions of snails!!!!!!!! That's why I got the botia. Well...I was recommended botia by gf225 and when I looked them up on google I fell in love with them!

I've been a huge cory fan since I started fish keeping, but now I'm being converted to botias :) Unfortunately 3 botias is my maximum, and that's prob too many for my size tank :S

Good luck with your loaches, they look great! I have them too, along with clowns and yoyo's - they are really funny little ones, and they are great for snails, the snails are probably just keeping a low profile!
