after days and days of searching for the perfect color... i finally found him today!

i just need to know - how do i add him to my already conditioned tank? is there a way to avoid shocking him of the transfer from his cup to my tank? should i add some of my tank h2o to his cup h2o?

please advise... thanks!

ps will post pic as soon as i get him out of his dirty cup ^_^

*EDIT topic description - PLEASE READ*

i've never had a betta get shocked....i usually submurge the cup in the water, then let the tank water drip in till it's full. then i poor out some of the cup water back in the tank and do it again and again, till i feel that the water temp in the cup, is the same as the tank.

gradually pour your water in to his cup/bag over the course of an hour (or more). after that, dump out all of the water in the cup and gently pour the betta into the tank.

Congrats on the new betta

I float my betta (still in the plastic bag) in the new tank for half an hour so the temperature of the water is the same. Then I slowly add a bit of water to the betta's bag and wait 15 minutes, so the betta can gradually aclimatize to the new water parameters. I keep adding more tank water every 15 minutes, and when the bag is full of tank water + petstore water, I release the betta. I get rid of the petstore water in case it carries anything undesirable.

couldn't have said it better :D

thanks everyone for the wonderful advice :D you guys are grrreat!

my betta is doing well! and i think he's ready to go in his new tank

except i think i might have a little problem with him already :/ when i bought him, i thought it was just his little design. it looks like red blood streaks along his right side. the left side has a faint outline of the right side blood streaks. so i looked it up online and i think he may have an internal infection septicemia. it says to treat it with maracyn2 and i have some on hand but i was wondering how bad of an infection this is and is it easily treatable? i really want to keep him cos i think i can make him better. but if this infection is hard to treat, i might just have to bring him back  any suggestions?

he's cute really!

Give him a week and the red veins won't be noticable, piscean. He's just pale from the cup and lack of food ( :sly: damn cups!) He's a beauty, that's for sure

thanks guys :D i hope to post better pics when his color sets in!

as simple as it may seem, i think naming a fish is as hard as finding one  and so after going thru many different names... me and my cousin (being that he helped me find my betta) decided on "QTIP" heh but QTIP seems to like it ;)
