Well, yup the subject says it all.
I'm 18 and am obsessed with betta fish. I first received
Squishy (he's black with bright purple and blue/turquois
fins) for my birthday, and then bought Murdoc (the victim
of my kitten).
I was at work today, and came home to my little bowl (one
of the betta fish bowls) smashed to pieces and Murdoc lying
on the floor. I picked him up and put him in Squishy's 5
(or so) gal tank.

Now normally, male betta fish fight. And these two dont.
Sure squishy freaked out and got all puffed up, but now he
swims up to him and is fine as well as Murdoc.

Is it possible that my two males could be in the same
tank??
Please let me know.. because if not, then pardon me while I
go run upstairs and remove Murdoc from the tank.

Hmm. Personally I've never tried, nor have I seen it happen. Maybe Murdoc is just to stressed out and tired right now to fight. Watch them closely... if anything happens, remove him immediately.

sepereate them  serpeate them now

sorry for the overreaction, but thought you may not see aggression right now i can almost gurantee you they'll fight evenutally when ur not looking and both will be hurt

so do squishy (i like the name btw) and murdoc a favor and put them apart! :)

My first betta is a calm betta. He has only flared his gills twice... once when i put a spoon in (ive tried it again and he didnt) and today when he first saw the new fish.

Murdoc hasn't been much of a mover, if the water is too cold he'll sit on the bottom.
But today after i cleaned the tank and put them both back in, both fish were swimming around.

Is there any possible way thay they might be able to be in the same tank?
i've read that if they have enough room to swim and be away from the other they might be ok.

I am going to give it a try.

hehe Your name is Squishy and you shall be mine.. ring a bell? :p

dude..enough room is like a HUGE tank, 5g is not enough  i'm so sorry to break it to you, but they will evenutally fight -_- you dont' want them hurt do you?

if you want them in the same tank, please at least make a divider for them. You can DIY one yourself or buy one at the lfs for a very cheap price.

don't wait until you see them fighting...it might already to be too late for htem by then

p.s. i love that movie :D

oh no, for sure... im watching them....
actually i just checked the box... lol its a 10 gallon

im sittin in my room watchin them....

P.S. im a girl lol

Probably not the best idea....they will most likely, eventually fight....and we all know, you can't watch them all the time. :/

agreed. don't do it!! even in a 10g it is WAY way too small for 2 MALE bettas to be together. Docile and passive as you may find htem.

one of these days you're going to go to sleep and wake up next morning to find them badly wounded :-( and that would severely suck :(

you must have something else that you can put them in -_-

hmm i think my username is a bit too... . masculine... im gonn amake a new one.... so ill post here when i have it.... let you all know who i am
