Hi all, well, i wasnt sure, but after months of thinking about it, weve gone ahead, and got some cute lil dwarf puffers!

I stripped one of our 10gallon tanks, which is a cute tank on my boyfriends desk.

We took all the gravel and water out, put the fresh new white silicia sand in, filled it up, let it cycle, and put in sum tap safe, and some ph lowerer, so that the water will be lower enough for the puffers, got a nice lava rock, with lots of holes in it, and two plants, and now its ready for the cute lil puffers!

We managed to pick up some cute lil puffers at £10 for 7 of them, which was the cheapest in this area, most shops want around £3.50 each for them.

Neway, enough chit chat, here are some pix of them!

They do look amazing. I hadn't noticed how much mine had grown until I saw some new babies at a fish store.

One thing though, you didn't buy 7 to permanently house in a 10 gallon did you?

I'm sure you know this and I'm wasting my breath, but since DPs are such a common question it shouldn't hurt to restate. Due to adult aggression levels you should stick to 5 gallons per DP. If you are lucky with temprament it has been known to keep two females with one male in a 10 gal but it is not advised.

Lovely puffers, and I'm glad to see that you have them on sand. :D

But seven in 10 gallons? You will be down to two within two months, almost guaranteed.

hiya, i got them at Maiden Head Aquatics, in worthing, but there are a fair few other shops in the area that sell the dwarfs, but i found maiden head to be the cheapist.

Thanks Maidenhead are selling them for £8 each round me or 2 for £15.It would be worth me driving to Worthing to get them

Thanks

That actually isn't proper cycling. Please go to one of the pinned sections for proper tank cycling. Unless you used some prior FULLY ESTABLISHED AND CYCLED tank filters/media then your tank is not cycled and you will loose your little ones.

OoHeatheroO ~ im assuming you havent read it propperly, as i said i took out the gravel and water, meaning the tank had already been set up. had you read some of my other posts, you would know that the tank had been running along time, and had fully cycled. i know you thought u were helping, by offering advice, but assuming things never got anyone anywhere!

Also, i do have other tanks, that can be ready within a few minutes if need be, but at the moment, their happy living together, and until they start picking on each other, thats how they will stay. Ive also thought about the future, and have done ever since i saw them and wanted to have some, ive waited about 6 months, so that i could read everything i can about them, before getting them.

When they have got abit bigger, i will move them into a bigger tank, but i dont see the point in putting them in a huge tank to begin with, mainly because they would be lost in there.
