Hi there.

I'm completely new to fish keeping, and was hoping someone could give me some advice as i need to prep all the aquarium myself for Tropical fish keeping.

I recently purchased a Juwel Delta 350 Litre corner fish tank and cabinet
Looks like this
http://www.juwel-aquarium.de/data/Image/Ambientebilder/Delta/14300_76300.jpg

Now the tank doesnt come with any bits just purely the tank and cabinet. It would be brilliant if somebody could check out these bits ive found and tell me if there suitable for my tank.

Iv have been doing reading and understand that i need to buy a filter capable of more than the capacity of the tank (the tank holds 350 litres) so i came accross this external filter which handles up to 400 litres
http://www.allpondsolutions.co.uk/aquarium-1/aquarium-filters/external-filters/aquarium-external-filter-1000-l-h-9w-uv.html

I also understand my tank requires a 500w heater or 3 250w heaters, so i had a search for a 500w heater and came accross this
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/AQUARIUM-500W-LED-DIGITAL-HEATER-WITH-HEAT-GUARD-K339_W0QQitemZ180598245953QQcmdZViewItem?rvr_id=234180758403&clk_rvr_id=234178672764&imp_rvr_id=234178672764&clk_rvr_id=234178672764&cguid=cb0dd51b12e0a0aa17275007ffece066#ht_2498wt_1002

So are those 2 suitable for my tank to keep tropical fish in?

Obviously apart from the decor, water treatment, is there any other bits im missing?

Thanks guys.

I would go for the 1400 filter from allpondsollutions and you would only really need 2 150w heaters 1 at each corner...

What makes you think you need 500w

I have already made the mistake of saving a few pound do hope it help you, The APS filter are great for the money get the 2000 one there nothing in the price and with 350L it gives a dencent turn over. They come with spray bars so flow will be fine. Heater wise go for brand name thats reliable nothing worse then a cheapheater cooked your fish x2 200w is more then enough for that :)

Oh and the 1st thing on your list before any thing is a liquid water test kit

cheers from the replies.

about the 500w heater - im not too sure where i read it but it was somewhere online.
so you think either 2 150w or 2 200w heaters should do the job?

And yeah iv been reading about the fishless cycle on the forum and will buy some water test kits.

well 1w = liter so 2x200 would be more then enough

With heaters you always want to go with 2 of them. Each one at half to a little more than half of what is needed. This way when one fails it won't fry your fish. (Most common way they fail is sticking on) If it should happen to burn out the element than the other heater will keep the temperature where the fish can survive. They may get chilly but they'll live.

Great advice :)

if they both are at half, they will never heat up more than half whats needed, that doesnt make sense to me, they are run by thermostats that turn them off when they get to a certain temp....

its not like 25C heater and a 25C heater would make the water 50c, it would just keep the water at 25c efficiently.
