I would guess that the EC number is a conformity certificate number, so I would say it is OK to use. However, I am sure someone will be along shortly to give you a 100% answer.

ok guys, just started fishless cycle, i am 99% sure that stuff is fine. Ticks all the right boxes.

Got my test kit today and feel a whole lot clearer and more confident about everything now, such a great feeling to get started eventually.
To be honest was nervous about using the amonia and test kits and things like that incase i got it wrong. Once i had it all in front of me it became a lot clearer so thanks to everyone for the help and advice.

Was actually going to bottle out of it and do a fish-in cycle when i got to the shop, and get some cherry barbs!

There is one question i have though. My tap water has a PH of 7.2, and my tank is now a ph of 8.8 (possibly higher). My guess is that this is normal straight after putting the amonia in and will even itself out soon?
