i sure do love my new tank. and so do my childern i havent watched tv in 4 days i just set and watch the fishies. it is so cool to have a little peace of the ocean in the livingroom. (even if it does take up most of the livingroom :p lol)
as for size shock well i still cant beleave it i only have a small house and my tank is always the first thing people comment on. i feel so proud :fish: i work realy hard trying to keep my tank looking good. a little harder than my husben might like when there is dishes in the sink lol.

Wow Gina, that is an awesome looking tank. I wish I had the guts to give salt water a try. I am too chicken though. Can you recommend a good book to read to get me going? Also, What kind of filtration system do you have? Good Job!!!

I don't think beneficial bacteria colonize in the water. The colonize on gravel, rocks, filter material, ect. So using old water imho is not going to cycle your tank

not only did i use the water from my 55gl i used the live rock and all the gravel and then used my old filters that were full of bactera in my new filter. pluss got more live rock. so my tank cycled just fine. it was no different than doing a 50% water change. i checked my levels every day and they never spiked once .They went from perfect to safe for 24 hours but that is normal even with a water change sometimes. Then right back to normal. so everything is great. all my fish are healthy and doing great loveing there new home.
