This is how I do my brine shrimp collection. Just add water and salt. Then I add brine shrimp 80% hatching to near a scoopful. Cheaper.:) Bubbling in room temperature for 26 to 30 hours. I stand by a water in jar so when I am done bubbling, I can pull out the ball head bubbling and then I put into the jar. :D Nothing fancy here.:) NEXT i pour into ceramics bowl I made. Look the bottom picture. :p

The black plastic bowl is from the frozen terriyaki bowl. The trapper is from the HBH betta container.

Then I filter again the catcher into a brine shrimp net. All reuseable material. :) I got all good BS that has less shell.:)

wow thats a great idea, hatch the bbs and then put em into the black box, i bought one of those hatcherys and it didnt work so well. i do the same by bubbling, but i put the jar in a 20 gl tank and they hatch in less than 24 hours, so its a bit quicker. thanks for postin this Yeevia.

i nvr have figured out how to eiliminate the shells, i userally hatch them with bakeing soda and salt water, and i use a hose to suck the lil guys out and then i strin the m throgh a coffee filter -_-

This work so well for me. Actually coconutman39, half of the brine shrimp already hatch and they will survive for 2 days in the bubbling process.(I read some article about the babies brine shrimp) When I pour into the black container, in 30 minutes, I got the collection of brine shrimps with very little of shell. :) I hope with this cheap and found object you can make will make brine shrimp more efficiency than the black hatchery box. :p Oh yeah, i just bought a can of 80% hatch one and I got a lot of brine shrimp.:) You don't have to buy the 90 or 95% one. :)

too late, i bought 90% and 90%+ actually hatch, good deal i will never use all of it!

Im thinking about doing something like this but i want to use Ice cube trys for my larger fish.

Thanks for the post and picture by picture it really helped.

I decapsulate my eggs before I hatch them. It increases your hatch rate and you can feed the decapsulated eggs to the fry too. Still have the caps floating around though, but you manage to eliminate most when you pull the eggs from the brine solution. You can even buy as low as 60% hatch rate because whatever doesn't hatch, you can still feed.

Yeevia, how do you get the BBS not to go through your net? I have 2 different brands of BBS nets and they don't work. I have to use paper coffee filters when I harvest, then I just swich it around in clean water to empty them off the paper.
