They layed eggs on the right side on the tank for some reason, doesnt sound bad does it, it is when my midas owns that side of the tank!
I seen a couple of times my male con was faceing upto the midas, and my midas would just look at him and turn around to continue digging. But he got to close, he flared out his gills right upto him, the midas dropped his gills and charged at him pinning him up against the window. Not a pretty sight but he is alive, its hard to see him as he is over the other side of the tank hiding in some trees and he is very hard to see. He came out and saved the eggs from the auratus as the female is very small and can not defend them by herself, but all he could do was bite him them swim back as he isnt looking the best. I pushed the trees over her and the eggs so she isnt as stressed from the other cichlids and sharks swimming around..

I'll keep you updated, hope he doesnt give in..

Sounds like quite the fight, although it ended pretty quickly i imagine. Have you considered the eggcrate stuff to create a partition until he heals? Its super cheap and easy to cut. Just hold it there with suction cups ;) Anway, hope he recovers quickly!!! Midas are awesome fish, i wouldn't mess with one

seems like quite a community of tank busters. sorry about that. how big of a tank do you have? can you move the cons temporarily somewhere else? if you have a spar 10-20 bucks you can get a 10 gal for the female and eggs unless you dont want to bother. gl

nopers, whole reason is to have them in there breeding to feed the other fish, give them somthing to chanse and stuff but.................some of them have lived!!
so i have alot of them that i just give away

fme that really doesnt work. my cons ended up dying and never breed when i put them with big predators. when they were with mild cichlids they owned the tank. either way
