In the hood of my 8 gallon is a filter that water flows out through a platform-like funnel. It is flat but small and the water pushes through it pretty quickly. It's hard to explain, but nonetheless... my 3-year old Yoyo loach loves to swim up into it and just sit there on the platform in the filter. It's bizarre. He's not in any danger... it's simply clean water pushing through it and through the hole into the tank.

But still... why do you think he would do this? There is not much water in there, but enough that he just sits there and doesn't flop around like he's stuck or afraid. Any ideas?

Attached a picture, sorry it's not very clear! His body position is weird and it may look like he's sick but he is totally healthy when he's swimming around the tank... nothing different about him at all.

i use to have that problem(though not to the extent of yours) where my clown loaches would swim up the inlet tube of my hob filter. till i changed to a filter inlet tube that was covered so nothing except maybe fry could get in.

One thing though that filter looks nasty with all the buildup on it. do you ever clean it?

Yeah... the water here is really hard, so it leaves a lot of that white dusty buildup. I try not to mess with it too much because I prefer to clean it in a sink so the dust doesn't go back into the tank... sorry to take a picture in such a gross state :X

You don't think it's anything bad, do you? I feel like he's trying to get away from all my guppies... he needs a vacation B-)~!

I hope your cleaning with tank water in the sink. Also yoyos get to around 6 inches 8 GAL is far too small
