My knife fish is going to be too big for this tank so I'm getting a new one over Christmas. This is the division I propose:

19G tank
1 x African Butterfly
1 x Pleco
4 x White Cloud Mountain Minnows
3 x Corydoras Julii
2 x Glass Ghost Catfish

48" tank (don't know how many gallons)
1 x Black Ghost Knife
4 x Garnet Pretty Tetras
1 x Black Neon
4 x Khuli loaches

Do you think I should change the background to a 'freshwater scene' rather than a marine or can you not notice?

You can just see my Pleco's tail (Larry) at the back above the urn.

Blade (knife fish) is poking his head out the urn

Glass catfish are on the right of the tank.

Unfortunatly my butterfly fish got camera shy and hid on the surface at the back of the tank :grr:

how wide is that 4 foot tank going to be? you'll want something wider than a foot if you can at all manage it (BGKs max out somewhere in the 18" range, if i remember correctly).

sounds pretty good, except i'd put the pleco in the 48" tank. since you didn't specify which kind it is, i'm betting its a common or sailfin pleco--again, maxing out between 12" and 24". add another glass catfish; they enjoy each other's company.

looks pretty good! just be careful not to add any more small fish (like garnet tetras or khulis) to the big tank. adult size BGKs really can't be trusted around fish under 2" in length.

in fact, you may want to move the ghost catfish to the larger aquarium and the tetras to the 19g. (khulis are pretty good at hiding from big scary things.) if you do that, bring the school of catfish up to 5 or more!! those things rock.

Thanks for everyone's comments.

And thanks pica_nuttalli for your advice. I might just do that - any excuse to buy more fish sounds good to me :hey:
