Hello,

Anyway, I ordered 2 Kribs among other fish to add to my biggest tank (see sig) a week ago and since then I have been trying to find out more about them. What I found is basically that they need caves, space and they might breed. I don't really want them to breed to be honest but I suppose it's up to them.

I got 2 cave like things for them yesterday (I was told to have 2) in addition to all the wood made caves that I have already in the tank. I am not sure whether I should put them in though, would it encourage them to breed or would it make no difference?

Also, if I do put the caves in when should I do it? I was thinking right before I put the fish in to try and make sure none of my other fish take them for themselves. Or again does this make no difference?

Any geveral advice/ information about them would be very very welcome as on other forums all people have really told me about is how to breed them, and as I already said I would rather they didn't breed.

Thanks

P.S. A couple people have advised against adding Kribs but many have not and the reading I did before I ordered them all said that unlike many other cichlids, they are ok in a community tank. I have a 10US 'hospital tank' that I could use for them until I got them another tank if it al goes wrong.

I really hope someone can help before it's too late!

Check this out, the info is almost the same for other kribs as well

Most cichlids love to breed, you need to put effort into not getting them to. Definetly provide the best environment that you can, breeding is one of the coolest parts about cichlids, you don't want to miss out on that breeding color and behavior. There is no problem having a survival of the fittest attitude with the fry

They are aggressive, and can harm most of your fish if they wanted to, but in a big tank like that, with lots of space, I think you should be ok.

Good Luck with your Kribs, I should think they will be fine.
