Hi

Been away on business for a long while so good to be back.

Iv had my other half lookin after the tank but its becoming a bit of a nightmare. I have a juwel rio 260l tank, and have done away with the standard H Juwel filter, in place of an eheim 2228. In addition, we kept getting a buildup of poop in the gravel and needed constant vacuming, we now have sand in the effort to keep the poop within the reaches of the filter, but it just looks dirty.

I have been thinking about this problem and have a few ideas.

Firstly, i was thinking about putting an undergravel filter back in. I never had a real problem with poop buildup when running this off a powerhead, but the sand meand it had to go. To do this i was thinking of drilling the tank. I dont know alot about drilling a tank, but i was gonna drill the bottom, and run some 22 mm eheim hose down from undergravel to an external filter, with a powerful pump in line, about 2000lph. I hope this would keep any detrius in the gravel and thru to the filter. Also, was thinking about running the eheim as a normal external.

Also - still havin bogwood leashin tannins into the water. I was told that you can coat the bogwood in that G4 pond sealant which seals the wood and stops it leaching in. Ideas on this?
