My Home Project

First I need to apologize for not posting pics after my last post. Work has been busy and the new fish won't stay still. Since my last post I have added more wisteria, 2 pictus cats, 5 platys, and nice piece of driftwood. I'll try and take pics soon. Going to add 3 mo hill stream loaches and some more platys. A little overstocked but nicely layered so it should be ok. Anyways, after I add those my current aquarium is done. Will have to wait until I can build/ buy the big one for more posts.

Take your time with pics! I think ones that are eager to see them aren't going anywhere any time soon :p

So I've been busy for a while and several things have happened so this might be lengthy. I'll do my best to keep it brief and organized. I did buy two more pictus cats and both did well for a week and then they were killed. That's an assumption but was made since water quality was great and all other parameters were normal. Something also killed 2 of my 5 platties.

After the mysterious deaths I had an ich outbreak. I increased the temp in the tank slightly and medicated for two weeks. No deaths thankfully and everyone seems to be doing well.

I acquired a coconut shell which I halved, cut cave openings into anda introduced into the tank after boiling. I also bought a moss ball, which I took apart and tied to various rocks and pieces off wood around the tank. I also added some cichlid stones to create more hiding spots for the fish who like caves.

Last but not least I got another hill stream loach. This one hides more than the other but is doing well and certainly helping me with algae.

So pics are long over due, but I'm likely leaving tomorrow for work so they may have to wait longer. My apologies, but they will come.

My plants are growing very well although I am eagerly waiting for the wisteria to get to the full height of the tank and be nice and bushy. The rams have not bred again to my knowledge but I have been gone a lot and there are more than enough semi aggressive fish in the tank that could have erased the evidence.

Plans going forward are to get my small school of pictus cats back since I have doubled the hiding spots on bottom, add a male platy since my only male died, and ad 2 more hill stream loaches. I also plan to add some more cichlid stones and possibly another piece of driftwood. I'll have to see what my LFS can come up with as my bottom space I largely claimed by other decorum. If I can I will try to build my decorations up instead of crowding the bottom.

I'm sorry for your losses. Hopefully the increased hiding places help.
