well i have just been to collect our new guinea pigs.. oh they are soo cute, they are 8 and half weeks old, both males,i have kept guinea pigs since i was knee high to a grass hopper. my dad loved them too, we always seemed to have them around..anyways, we got one about 5 years ago for my then little boy, but sadley he was allergic to them and his exzema gave us all grief so i had to rehome " smartie".. the good news is my son has long out grown exzema, so we got 2 more, i cant tell you how over the moon i am, and already planning for them , new cages ( indoor) mates etc.. lol.. we already keep a hamster ( which i dont get on with veryu well, seems the feeling is mutual lol) and although the fur is diffrent i hope this time it will all work out.....i will try to post some photos when they are less shy, tho they have been sitting on me most of the afternoon having cuddles :).. hence the parculiar smel , ive put them in the cage now to get used to it, but i am hoping that this is the begging of a beautiful friendship :)

theyre lovely, you should keep an eye on them tho when theyre a bit bigger if your keeping the two males together, because they have a tendancy to argue for 'top dog' position.- i have heard this..

i have two males together and they started off fine together, then got nasty,a few minor injuries later theyre kinda used to each other, but i think the female rabbit that lived next door to them didnt help!

just a word of warning, dont want to seem like im interferring or putting a downer on it,just thought id mention it :)

very cute! I get more problems with the girls(especailly when in season) than my pairs of boys(got 11 pairs of boars at the min) , and only the ones that I use for breeding are on their own, but even then some of them get paired up again when they get older or when their sons are old enough to leave mum lol.
As long as the cage is big enough they are normally ok, especaily as these are brought up together. Yep you might, might get the odd "huff" more so when they hit puberty, about 6-9 months old but theyll sort it all out :)

have fun with them!

i appreciate the advice, i have still got them in together and they are fine at the moment, though my pet shop was closing down a few weeks ago and was selling cages and hutches for silly money, so 1 side of my garage is a bit stocked up to put it mildly lol, weve now got 5 ( may have mentioned it) 2 girls and 3 boys, but they dont play together as the noise is horrendous
