I have had him/her for about 9 months now. Can anyone ID what type of Gourami this is for me? Im guessing a Dwarf Gourami.

That is definitely a dwarf gourami, ya can bet the farm!

Thankies :*)
I dont know how to sex Gouramis, but i Call it a He. Hes so easy to photograph, loves attention and is somewhat of a camera hog. Always getting into all of my pics when i take them of the other fish.

It's a male banded gourami, colisa fasciatus.

100% sure it's NOT a dwarf gourami.

You look like you have the wild form like in my book.

Looks like colisa fasciatus to me to. :)

They have them at my local wal-mart mismarked as paradise fish for 1.50... I want some soooooo bad but I have no room for any.

u sure its not a neon blue dwarf gourami? i know the bottom fin coloration looks like the colisa faciatus but the body coloration looks much like a neon blue.

Well I know some gourami But that to me looks like a Banded Gourami, Or also know as a Giant Gourami, Scientific name colisa fasciatus , I agree with Ryan, This is a peaceful fish, That IS NOT PICKY EATER like others :p , And in my looks like a female Banded, I should get him a M8.

Giant gourami are different. They are longer and thinner.

WOW ! Thanks for all your replys and the ID of him. :*)
Im not too familiar with Gouramis, my wife brought him home one day, not sure where she purchased him from either. Is there an easy way to tell males from females in this species ?Seeing how he needs a tank mate :p
