As far as I understand, the male would make a bubble nest first, which is on the surface of the water. Then it will find a mate and squeeze the egg out of the female.

Female has rounded dorsal fin, male has pointed dorsal fin.

Have you changed any thing in the tank/moved plants ect or maybe added new fish? witch has upset them?

No it's exactly the same no new fish and the tank has the same layout they both just keep going into the planted area and stag there for ages before coming back out for a little while then go back into hiding it's really strange they never acted like this before

What are your water parameters? And how often do you do water changes? Are both the fish still big bold gold colures or have they gone dull or even a black shade across there body’s?

My ph levels are fine I do water changes every week about 20% per week and 1 of them has gone very dark on the top of it but the other 1 is it's normal coulour

Ok ph. is fine what about the rest e.g. ammonia nh3/nh4, nitrite no2, nitrate no3. The change in body colour suggests stress in the fish and if you haven’t changed anything in the tank my guess is the water quality is probably your problem.
