My Fishless Cycle.

day 29.

please check, think I am back on track now. how long do the api master test kits last for, the ammonia bottle feels low.

yeah good stuff, looks like you're back on track. can't remember how many tests it is but you do run out of the ammonia one before the others! you can buy them seperately though so you don't have to fork out for the whole kit again.

also once the cycle is done your testing drops down, you'll need to do daily for the first couple of weeks to keep an eye on things, then you can go to testing once a week and eventually go to testing once a month or just whenever you see a problem.

it's just the cycle that burns up your test kits!

AM SOOOOOOOOOOO BOARD OF WAITING TO GET FISH ARGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH lol

what was your pH at the 12 hr test after day 29?

OK,

I think it's time to start thinking about your pH and KH, can you get a KH test kit please?

I agree. I -do- think its a thing of the process getting steadily more and more slow as the pH moves down from 8.0 to 6.2, don't you MW? I mean, its not just the "stall at 6.2, fullstop at 6.0" thing, there's also a slowing down thing, don't you feel that hunch from all our dozens of monthly cases MW?

~~waterdrop~~

yeah absolutely, it's always worth giving it a few days of water changes as sometimes this is enough to sort it out without having to bamboozle you with the techy stuff. But I think we may be progressing towards Bicarb time. However WD is much better at explaining this bit than I am (mostly because he actually understands it  ) so I'll hand over......

just got a api kh tester from ebay for £5. Shall I just carry on as normal until it arrives?

where is the thread about using bicarb???? I would like to know what I am going to be doing before the KH arrives?
