My Fish Tank And It's Owners

Nope not yet :(

Will have to try tomorrow.

All the fish look fine, not signs of them getting affected. No heavy breathing or gasping for air.

What signs should I look out for?

Some pictures of the lil pleco :)

Now going to put in the mopani pieces.

Looks good, nice bit of wood.

Symptoms of ammonia poisoning:

* Lethargy
* Loss of appetite
* Hovering at the bottom of the tank (especially for surface dwelling fish)
* Gasping at the surface
* Inflamed gills
* Red streaks or inflammation in the gills
* Inflamed eyes or anus

and of course death. :rip:

NitrIte poisoning will permanently damage the fishes gills the gills and in higher concentrations kill them.

NitrAte isn't as bad, high levels weaken the fishes immune system and make them prone to diseases.

The plec is a hardy fish it will outlive anything in the tank when it comes to ammonia and nitrite. The guppies will be the first to show any signs i would think.

Anyway keep up the water changes this will help keep the toxin levels down, and get some mature media even just a little bit and stick it in your filter. :good:

Ok thanks for that.

The plec and zebra danios will survive the guppies I know won't. So I'll fish them out tomorrow, as they should all be sleeping!

Lucky my 1 1/2 year old female zebra, the fattest one has gone through alot, she's very hardy, good lil fighter.

Just need to get her a male so she can have some babies.

Just done a 25% water change and put in Filter Aid, AquaSafe and Prime.

I'm going to try and buy a air pump this week hopefully before I put in any EasyBalance.

But I have had no losses yet, and the Nitrate and Nitrite are still highish.
The Ammonia has dropped though :)

Also what plant would you suggest to replace the one next to the filter. The green and white plant, as people say it's a house plant.

Well long time no update so here it goes:

I bought a Hydor Ario 3, NitrateMinus, Stress Zyme and some Anti Fungus and Finrot.

All seems to be well at the minute :)

The 1st batch of guppy babies are coming along nicely, I think they are all female :eek:

What age/size can you tell their gender?

The air pump is really strong, and the filter waves push it against the left side panel of the glass, so it goes around the whole tank...

I may re-position it so it sticks to the filter, or next to the filter so the bubbles cover the filter nose or on the right side panel of the glass.

thanks.

as you can tell there's a bit of algae growing on the front of the tank. But once my lil plec grows I'm sure he or she will polish it off for me. In the mean time I'll get a magnetic algae brush thing.

Also as my camera is not very good, I'm thinking of buying a new one.

I currently have £270 on me... But will have more by the end of the month.

It will be for work, fish pics and other pictures of my dog, wildlife etc etc...

Any suggestions on what to get?

Guess what I saw at the LFS today!!!
Pure black Corydoras with brown fins!!! 4 of them.

Think they were named as Peru Cory? *Edit: They're called Corydoras aenaeus, never seen them before*

Anybody else seen these corydoras?
I'm very tempted to get the 4 for my 125ltr.
But the stats are:

Ammonia: 0ppm
Nitrite: 0ppm
Nitrate: 20-40, 40-80ppm (I've got a Nitrate Filter Sponge, but it's too big for my filter

would I be able to cut it to size and put it in?)

ok no worries. Currently have 6 zebra danios, some guppies and a plecostamus living in there so I'd guess it's all good?
