After one of my goldfish died, my other one alive was very lonely so I decided Time for a friend!! I bought a similar sized goldfish and my tank is around 40 gallons for 2 goldies. However, my new goldfish was quite mean, and gave a hard bite to my poor little goldie. I'm not sure what's going on or they're just playing? I really need help or my goldfish might get stressed out or die. :(

What does your tank set up look like?
Is it only those two fish?
Is it fin nipping or is it attacks like lip locking or body attacks?

My tank Setup: Good hiding spots in plants :) a few rocks and so!
Only 2 fish :D
What is lip locking? Or Body attacks??? It's mostly just nipping the tail a bit and just swimming normally after eachother. The fish that is getting chased looks freaked out and the fish chasing looks calm and ok so I'm not sure what I should do :(

Pictures of the fish and entire aquarium, and a 1 minute video of the fish?
Upload videos to YouTube, then copy & paste the link here.
If you use a mobile phone to film the fish, hold the phone horizontally so the footage fills the entire screen.

It's not Sendinggggggg :angry::angry:
But one of my fish has a teeny tiny split tail u can't even notice it but I have 0 clue on how it got here :( Right now, they're doing a little better tho! not attacking as much but the fish getting chased is still scared.

It's not Sendinggggggg

I mean by i only have tropical fish forums on computer, but I took it with my phone so my phone isn't sending :( They're doing much better now, I guess it's because they saw a stranger...

Fin nipping shouldn’t be too much of an issue, I have kept goldfish specifically, but as long as the one is not hiding in the corner of the tank or being chased immediately when he comes out of hiding it should be fine. Just monitor the place the one got nipped on her fin to make sure she doesn’t get an infection.

It is possible you have a male chasing a female. If they are common goldfish (single tail) they will need the space of a pond. 40g is ok for two fancy goldfish (double tailed) which don't swim as well as commons.

Do you know why one died? You probably know this but they need a couple of huge water changes every week due to them producing a lot of waste.

I don't have many clues on why one died, considering my other goldfish was healther than ever.
However, besides fin nipping, I have a bigger problem with ich. :(
I noticed it on my fantail goldfish and I'm kinda worried about what to do since they are very contagious I believe? My oranda looks completely fine though... What should I do about my fantail?

Let's make sure it's ich first. Upload a photo.

Here it is:
not looking to good . However, I noticed he had like a little bloody area beneath his mouth, and now i'm stressed out again. I feel like giving up this fish tank, but not without saving the fish first 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭

It's hard to tell if it's white spot or excess mucous.
How long have the white dots been on the tail for?

What is the ammonia, nitrite, nitrate and pH of the aquarium water (in numbers)?
How long has the tank been set up for?

How often do you do water changes and how much do you change?
Do you gravel clean the substrate when you do a water change?
Do you dechlorinate the new water before adding it to the aquarium?

What sort of filter is on the tank?
How often and how do you clean the filter?

Is the fish rubbing on objects in the tank?

---------------------

BASIC FIRST AID FOR FISH
Test the water for ammonia, nitrite, nitrate and pH.

Wipe the inside of the glass down with a clean fish sponge. This removes the biofilm on the glass and the biofilm will contain lots of harmful bacteria, fungus, protozoans and various other microscopic life forms.

Do a 75% water change and gravel clean the substrate every day for a week or until the problem is identified. The water changes and gravel cleaning will reduce the number of disease organisms in the water and provide a cleaner environment for the fish to recover in. It also removes a lot of the gunk and this means any medication can work on treating the fish instead of being wasted killing the pathogens in the gunk.
Make sure any new water is free of chlorine/ chloramine before it is added to the tank.

Clean the filter if it hasn't been done in the last 2 weeks. However, if the filter is less than 6 weeks old, do not clean it. Wash the filter materials/ media in a bucket of tank water and re-use the media. Tip the bucket of dirty water on the garden/ lawn. Cleaning the filter means less gunk and cleaner water with fewer pathogens so any medication (if needed) will work more effectively on the fish.

Increase surface turbulence/ aeration to maximise the dissolved oxygen in the water.

It's been for a few days to a week i think
Ammonia: 0
Nitrite: 0
Nitrate: 15
PH: 7.5
Around 4 months

Waterchanges every week or 2: 20%
Yep clean the gravel
I dechorinate

I clean the filter around once every 2-3 weeks
The fish isn't rubbing against anything at all
