Thanks for the opinions everyone. It is nice to read positive remarks, although constructive criticism is also welcome.

Bloo, I think most of the credit goes to the system I use which is known as Estimative Index, and this forum.

@ombomb (cool name), I was trawling through this forum for a good while before I bought anything, and learnt absolutely tons. It helped me side step a lot of newbie mistakes, and made my mind up for me that I wanted a planted tank.

Thanks for the link Amazonian. I am pretty sure I will have a go at an Amazonian Biotope one day.

A lot unfortunately. The tank is a 120 litre Juwel Lido. It has pressurised CO2 and upgraded lights purely as a necessity for plant growth, but I also removed the internal filter and replaced it with a canister for aesthetics.

Probably £500 for the hardware, £75 for the plants and about 10p for the fish.
